Presentation outline:
My presentation is 90 minutes in length, as follows…
- The presentation starts with the playing of my 5 minute “The Courage to Come Back” video to introduce myself.
- Then I play a 10 minute, high impact, drug abuse video called “The Wrath of the Dragon”
- Afterwards, I play a pre-recorded speech of my life story summarized in 30 minutes. The text is also projected on the big screen as students often have a hard time understanding my computer-generated monotone voice.
- Later, (after telling a joke to lighten the mood) the students open up to ask questions for 35 minutes. During this segment, they get to witness the difficulty of my communication when answering.
- Finally, I ask two students to come up on stage and read a poem or song from my published book “Strength of The Human Spirit”
- Afterwards there are hugs all round
“To intervene with youth’s substance abuse, drug addiction or drug fatality, I strongly believe the entire family must be educated. I have written several speeches adapted to students’ comprehension level. I have a presentation that is age-appropriate for 9 to 11 year olds (I can’t stress enough the importance of prevention at the elementary level) geared toward prevention. Then I have speeches for middle schools and senior secondaries, geared toward intervention.
My presentation for parents contains my story, but also includes tell-tale signs of drug use by their children. I can present to two schools in a day and do one public presentation in an evening.”
- Please ask us about dates and times available.
